The Relationship Among Motivational Disposition, Self‐Efficacy, and L2 Achievement of EFL Learners
Motivation has long been recognized as a crucial predictor of second language (L2) achievement, yet much existing research has treated motivation primarily in quantitative terms, with less attention to the nature of learners’ motivational orientations. Drawing on regulatory focus theory (RFT), this study examined how two distinct motivational dispositions (promotion focus vs. prevention focus) relate to L2 achievement, and whether English self‐ef…

Since the UNAIDS introduced HIV self-testing in 2014, its application has been widely adopted globally. Developed in China approximately 2015, HIV self-testing (HIVST), which involves the online purchase of testing kits via e-commerce platforms, has emerged as the most significant distribution method. This approach offers numerous benefits, including user-friendliness, speed, and enhanced privacy protection. To understand the spatiotemporal heter…
Linguistic (In)Directness in Complaints on an Online Discussion Forum for Chinese University Students
Although several studies have examined the speech act of complaint on mainstream social media platforms, few have investigated complaints on university students’ online discussion forums. Therefore, this study examines the linguistic (in)directness in complaints made by Chinese university students on an online discussion forum based on Depraetere et al.’s (2021) taxonomy. It focuses on the formal realization of the four constitutive components (c…

Exploring the motivational mechanisms of growth beliefs on perseverance among EFL students
Perseverance of effort is essential for success in learning a second language (L2). While past research has examined how motivational beliefs (e.g., growth mindset) influence L2 learners’ perseverance, their generalizability and underlying motivational mechanisms remain unclear. This study investigated the relationship between growth language mindsets and perseverance of efforts in L2 learning, as well as whether this relationship can be explaine…

We investigate how MPU affects dynamic adjustment of a firm's capital structure using a panel data set of China public manufacturers between 2…
The Link between Landscape Characteristics and Soil Losses Rates over a Range of Spatiotemporal Scales
Controlling soil erosion is beneficial to the conservation of soil resources and ecological restoration. Understanding the spatial distribution characteristics of soil erosion helps find the key areas for soil control projects and optimal scale for investing in a soil and water conservation project at the lowest cost. This study aims to answer the question of how the spatial distribution of soil erosion in Hubei Province changed between 2000 and …
