  • Integrating nutrition as a transversal competence

    Open Access•Sonja Lackner, Regina Roller-Wirnsberger et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Medical Education•2026

BACKGROUND: Nutrition is widely recognised as essential to clinical practice, yet its integration into undergraduate medical curricula remains inconsistent and fragmented. While previous work has primarily focused on identifying gaps or evaluating isolated interventions, less attention has been paid to how nutrition can be systematically integrated within existing competency-based curricula. METHODS: We conducted a curriculum mapping study to ide…

  • Humor as a Moderator in the Relationship Between Emotional Exhaustion and Depressive Symptoms in University Students and the General Population

Open Access•Magdalena Wekenborg, Magdalena K Wekenborg et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Happiness Studies•2025

The search for resilience factors that could minimize the transition from burnout to depression may offer a valuable approach for depression prevention. The present study investigated whether humor could be such a potential resilience factor in two independent studies. In study 1 ( n = 58, students), we used a performance-based approach integrating linguistic and psychometric methods to investigate whether the ability to produce humor in positive…

  • In your face? Exploring multimodal response patterns involving facial responses to verbal and gestural stance-taking expressions

    Open Access•Kurt Feyaerts, Christian Rominger et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Pragmatics•2022•Citada por: 2•Referências: 7

  • Families' digital media use

Open Access•Lars Eichen, Sigrid Hackl‐Wimmer et al.•ARTICLE•British Journal of Educational…•2021

Since digital media such as smartphones, tablets or laptops are available in almost every household in industrialised countries, parents are challenged to integrate them into their everyday family life. To gain more information on parents' mediation of digital media, the relationships between their educational intentions, objectives and their children's use of digital media were investigated in consideration of the children's age. Overall, 150 Au…

  • Cardiorespiratory Interaction and Autonomic Sleep Quality Improve during Sleep in Beds Made from Pinus cembra (Stone Pine) Solid Wood

Open Access•Vincent Grote, Matthias Frühwirth et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

Cardiorespiratory interactions (CRIs) reflect the mutual tuning of two important organismic oscillators-the heartbeat and respiration. These interactions can be used as a powerful tool to characterize the self-organizational and recreational quality of sleep. In this randomized, blinded and cross-over design study, we investigated CRIs in 15 subjects over a total of 253 nights who slept in beds made from different materials. One type of bed, used…

  • Alignment and empathy as viewpoint phenomena

    Open Access•Kurt Feyaerts, Bert Oben et al.•ARTICLE•Cognitive Linguistics•2017•Citada por: 3•Referências: 3

This contribution focuses on verbal amplifiers and comical hypotheticals in a corpus of face-to-face interactions. Both phenomena qualify as markers of a mental viewpoint expressing an (inter)subjective construal of a certain experience. Whereas amplifiers offer a straightforward view onto a speaker’s evaluative stance, comical hypotheticals provide an intersubjective account of a viewpoint construal. As part of their meaning, their use reveals a…

  • Experimentally observed responses to humor are related to individual differences in emotion perception and regulation in everyday life

Ilona Papousek, Günter Schulter et al.•ARTICLE•Humor - International Journal of…•2014•Citada por: 1•Referências: 2

This study aimed to investigate the relevance of an individual's typical emotion perception and emotion regulation behavior to his or her responsiveness to humor. This was studied behaviorally by examining responses to different types of humorous stimuli in an experimental paradigm, in a sample of n = 54 participants aged between 18 to 41 years (29 women, 25 men). Individual differences in emotion perception and regulation were assessed by releva…

  • Die Geschichte der Dampfmaschine

    Helmut Lackner•ARTICLE•Technology and Culture•2003

At least since Conrad Matschoß published his two-volume study, Die Entwicklung der Dampfmaschine, in 1908, the steam engine has been one of the most important topics in the historiography of German industry. For engineers, the steam engine was even more significant than machine tools. In 1986, Otfried Wagenbreth, one of the three authors of Die Geschichte der Dampfmaschine, together with his colleague Eberhard Wächtler published a book about stea…
