Open Access•Amandine Baudot, Nathalie Barth et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2024

Background: Although the health benefits of physical activity (PA) are recognized, prostate cancer patients do not follow PA recommendations. Barriers to PA, whether physical, environmental or organizational, are known. Furthermore, even when these barriers are overcome, this achievement is not systematically accompanied by lifestyle change. Many strategies have shown to be effective in increasing patient adherence to PA. This study aims to asses…

  • Relationship between moderate-to-vigorous, light intensity physical activity and sedentary behavior in a prospective cohort of older French adults

Open Access•Caroline Duprè, Marlène Brégère et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

Highlights An equivalent daily dose of walking at low intensity (at least 1.5 h at one’s own pace) has already a beneficial effect on health in older adults with a 30% reduction in mortality risk. This reduction in mortality risk is even more strong (80%) from 3 h of walking at low intensity per day. These results are even stronger in those who have chronic conditions (hypertension or type 2 diabetes)

  • Covid-19 and Quarantine, a Catalyst for Ageism

Open Access•Nathalie Barth, Jessica Guyot et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2021

In February 2021, France had more than 76,000 deaths due to COVID-19 and older adults were heavily affected. Most measures taken to reduce the impact of COVID-19 (quarantine, visit ban in nursing home, etc.) significantly influenced the lives of older adults. Yet they were rarely consulted about their implementation. Exclusion of and discrimination against older adults has been accentuated during the COVID-19 pandemic. While many articles discuss…
