  • The psychological gain calculator

    Open Access•Simon A Houle, István Tóth‐király et al.•ARTICLE•Current Psychology•2025

  • A multilevel perspective on the role of job demands, job resources, and need satisfaction for employees' outcomes

    Open Access•Alexandre J S Morin, Nicolas Gillet et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Vocational Behavior•2023

  • Organizational Downsizing, Work Conditions, and Employee Outcomes

    Open Access•Michael R Frone, Ann-Renée Blais•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

This study broadly assesses the association of organizational downsizing to deleterious work conditions and employee outcomes, and the extent to which work conditions mediate the association of downsizing to employee outcomes, thereby serving as targets for workplace intervention to reduce the harmful effects of downsizing on surviving workers. The cross-sectional data came from a national probability sample of 2,297 U.S. workers. A parallel mult…

  • Work Fatigue in a Non-Deployed Military Setting

    Open Access•Michael R Frone, Ann-Renée Blais•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2019

Although work fatigue represents an important issue among military personnel in combat settings, little attention has been paid to work fatigue in the non-deployed setting. This issue was addressed by (a) validating the Three-Dimensional Work Fatigue Inventory (3D-WFI) among non-deployed military personnel, (b) assessing the prevalence of work fatigue in a non-deployed setting, and (c) exploring several potential predictors and outcomes of work f…

  • A Domain-Specific Risk-Taking (Dospert) scale for adult populations

    Open Access•Ann-Renée Blais, Elke U Weber•ARTICLE•Judgment and Decision Making•2006

This paper proposes a revised version of the original Domain-Specific Risk-Taking (DOSPERT) scale developed by Weber, Blais, and Betz (2002) that is shorter and applicable to a {broader range of ages, cultures, and educational levels}. It also provides a French translation of the revised scale. Using multilevel modeling, we investigated the risk-return relationship between apparent risk taking and risk perception in 5 risk domains. The results re…

  • Predicting Risk Sensitivity in Humans and Lower Animals

Elke U Weber, Sharoni Shafir et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Review•2004

This article examines the statistical determinants of risk preference. In a meta-analysis of animal risk preference (foraging birds and insects), the coefficient of variation (CV), a measure of risk per unit of return, predicts choices far better than outcome variance, the risk measure of normative models. In a meta-analysis of human risk preference, the superiority of the CV over variance in predicting risk taking is not as strong. Two experimen…

  • A domain‐specific risk‐attitude scale

    Open Access•Elke U Weber, Ann-Renée Blais et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Behavioral Decision…•2002•Citada por: 181•Referências: 5

We present a psychometric scale that assesses risk taking in five content domains: financial decisions (separately for investing versus gambling), health/safety, recreational, ethical, and social decisions. Respondents rate the likelihood that they would engage in domain‐specific risky activities (Part I). An optional Part II assesses respondents' perceptions of the magnitude of the risks and expected benefits of the activities judged in Part I. …
