  • Distribution of Freshwater Plant Communities and Halophytes in Coastal Region, Muan-gun, South Korea

Open Access•Seung Bin Park, Kyoung Hoon Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Marine and Island…•2025•Referências: 1

The distribution of freshwater plant communities and the relationships between them and sand dunes, salt marshes, and reclaimed lands of the southwestern coasts of South Korea was studied along with plant factors. Competitor (C), stress tolerator (S), and ruderal (R) (CSR) ecological strategies were also evaluated. To elucidate the relative significance of competition, stress, and disturbance (CSR) in the distribution process of plant communities…

  • Plant species richness (PSR) along island biogeographical gradients in inhabited islands of Shinan-gun, Republic of Korea

    Open Access•Jin-Won Choi, Dong-Ho Son et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Marine and Island…•2024•Referências: 2

The objective of this study is assess the influences of 8 environmental factors, population, coastline length, island area, vegetated area, highest peak, distance to the mainland, longitude, latitude on vascular plant species richness (PSR) of 10 inhabited islands of Shinan-gun, South Korea. In simple regression, the relationships between PSR and distance to the mainland, longitude and latitude were significant at the 5% level. When distance incr…

  • Living Tool Diversity (LTD) along Environmental and Population Gradients in Shinan-gun, South Korea

    Open Access•Kyoung-Hoon Yang, Sun-Kee Hong et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Marine and Island…•2023•Citada por: 2•Referências: 1

To measure influences of environmental factors and population on Living Tool Diversity (LTD) in 10 islands of Shinan-gun, the number of living tools was determined. Correlation analysis, simple linear regression analysis, and principal component analysis (PCA) were performed. Results showed that coastline length and population were positively related to LTD and thus, island size and human dynamics. PCA results showed that living tools could be cl…

  • Distribution Strategies of Vascular Plants at the Reclaimed Lands at the Saemangum Sea Dike

Open Access•Kyoung Hoon Yang, Seung Bin Park et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Marine and Island…•2021•Citada por: 1•Referências: 2

The distribution of plant communities in the reclaimed land of the southwestern coasts of South Korea, along with the environmental or plant factors, was studied through canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) and the competitor (C), stress tolerator (S), and ruderal (R) (CSR) ecological strategies. The coastal reclaimed land plants were classified into three plant-factor groups in the CCA biplot diagram. Axis1 was correlated with LS, SLA, CH, an…

  • Importance of Biotic and Soil Factors in Determining the Distribution Strategies of Coastal Salt Marsh Plants

    Open Access•Dong-Ho Son, Jeom-Sook Lee et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Marine and Island…•2020•Citada por: 1•Referências: 2

The distribution of plant communities in the salt marshes of the southwestern coasts of South Korea was studied, along with environmental or plant factors, by canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) and the competitor (C), stress tolerator (S), and ruderal (R) (CSR) ecological strategies. The coastal salt-marsh plants were classified into three plant-factor groups in the CCA biplot diagram. Group 1 was correlated with LS and FP. Group 2 was corre…

  • Suspended sediment source tracing at the Juksan Weir in the Yeongsan River using composite fingerprints

Open Access•Young Shin Lim, Jong Wook Kim et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2019

  • Solar Energy, Latitude and Coastal Plant Diversity for Management of Sand Dune Parks

    Open Access•Jeom-Sook Lee, Sei‐Woong Choi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Marine and Island…•2019•Citada por: 1•Referências: 3

This study attempted to find consistent relationships between climate, latitude, and the richness of plant species on sand dunes. The richness of plant species on sand dunes in the Northern and the Southern hemisphere decreased with latitude or increased with air temperature. This suggests a latitudinal gradient of vascular plant richness on sand dunes in both hemispheres. However, the relationships between the richness of coastal plant species a…

  • Dynamics of zonal halophyte communities in salt marshes in the world

Open Access•Jeom-Sook Lee, Jong Wook Kim•ARTICLE•Journal of Marine and Island…•2018•Citada por: 5•Referências: 2

Understanding of salt marsh plant zonation caused by abiotic and biotic factors is essential for successful conservation plans in the face of ongoing environmental change. The frequency of flooding is more important than elevation in predicting marsh plant zones. Tidal marsh plants are distributed across a wide gradient of soil-water salinities. Studies done to date indicate that redox potential, ionic composition of soil, moisture content of soi…

  • Analysis of the relationship between the kinetic energy and intensity of rainfall in Daejeon, Korea

Open Access•Young Shin Lim, Jin Kwan Kim et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2015

  • Evaluation of suspended-sediment sources in the Yeongsan River using Cs-137 after major human impacts

Open Access•Young Shin Lim, Jin Kwan Kim et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2014

  • Learning, Forgetting, and Relearning for Keystroke- and Mouse-Driven Tasks

    Jong Wook Kim, Frank E Ritter•ARTICLE•Human-Computer Interaction•2013

We investigate performance change arising through learning, forgetting, and relearning. Participants learned a spreadsheet task with either keystroke-driven (keyboard, n = 30) or mouse-based menu-driven (mouse, n = 30) commands. Their performance confirmed the power law of practice. The keyboard users learned to complete the task faster than the mouse users on the last learning session (Day 4). At a 6-day retention interval, the mouse users were …

  • Reconstruction of Holocene coastal progradation on the east coast of Korea based on OSL dating and GPR surveys of beach-foredune ridges

    Open Access•Kwang Hee Choi, Jeong‐Heon Choi et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2013•Citada por: 1•Referências: 6

Coastal dunefields along the east coast of Korea have long been thought to have originated from beach ridges that prograded during the Holocene, but there has been little chronological evidence based on absolute dating. In this paper, we use optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating and ground-penetrating radar (GPR) surveys to reconstruct the coastal progradation of Anin dunefield in the Gangneung area on the east coast of Korea. GPR profil…
