  • Have lifestyle factors led to perceiving a higher level of stress? Implications for mental health policies from an econometric analysis for South Korea

Lara Gitto, Yong-Hwan Noh et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Asian Public Policy•2019•Referências: 10

Stress is actually considered as a common aspect of modern life. If stress becomes permanent, it can interfere with individuals’ job, family life and health. Lifestyle variables have often been neglected by the relevant literature in explaining self-perceived stress. Using individual data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) for the year 2005, we carried out an econometric analysis based on ordered probit mode…

We investigated the association of these factors with out-of-pocket health expenditures among the adult and …

  • Is Corruption Really Bad for Inequality? Evidence from Latin America

Antonio Rodríguez Andrés, Carlyn Ramlogan‐Dobson et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Development Studies•2011

This article presents new evidence on the relationship between corruption and income inequality. Using a panel data methodology, we find that lower corruption is associated with higher income inequality in Latin America. This result is in contrast to other empirical studies but it makes sense in Latin America for a number of reasons. The finding of an inverse relationship between inequality and corruption suggests that institutional reform polici…

  • Income inequality, unemployment, and suicide

    Antonio Rodríguez Andrés•ARTICLE•Applied Economics•2005

Most panel data studies have employed overall suicide rates (male and female) to identify the determinants of suicide. This research has also neglected the use of country specific linear time trends. Neglecting these factors may confound the empirical estimates of socio-economic variables due to the impact of unobserved country specific determinants of suicide that are time-varying. Empirical results from 15 European countries between 1970 and 19…
