This paper explores the evolution and implementation of Balanced and Restorative Justice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, an area that has not been explored in the literature. College Students Perceptions Toward Carrying Concealed Weapons on College Campuses
This study uses a survey of undergraduate college students at two schools in the eastern United States to investigate their attitudes toward carrying concealed weapons on campus. We found that politically conservative white men who own guns are more likely to be in favor of qualified students and faculty carrying concealed weapons on campus than politically liberal non-whites and women who do not own guns. College and University Faculty Perceptions Towards Carrying Concealed Firearms on Campus
This study uses a survey of university and college faculty members at two schools in the eastern United States to investigate their attitudes towards qualified faculty members and students carrying concealed firearms on their campuses. We found that faculty members who own a gun and are politically conservative were in favor concealed carry for qualified students and faculty, while liberal faculty member who are not gun owners were not
The effects of self-classification on perceptions of security levels and civil liberties among a sample of college students
This study uses a survey of undergraduate college students at two schools in the eastern United States to investigate whether how they self-classify (e.g. choice of major and political view) effects their levels of trust in the government and how safe they feel in regard to a terror attack. We found that while all of the self-classification variables had an effect on trust in the government, none of them had an effect on feelings of safety
Family Structures in Pennsylvania and its Effect on Delinquent Acts
This paper examines the effect of family structure on delinquent acts. Specifically, whether living arrangement (with both parents, one parent, etc...) has any impact on the type of delinquent act (person or drug) committed. Data for over 2,700 juveniles who committed a substantiated delinquent act in Pennsylvania were examined for possible effects. The Effects of Legal and Extralegal Factors on Probation Revocation Decisions
This study attempts to further the understanding of how legal and extra legal factors affect the decision of criminal justice professionals, specifically, adult probation officers. The findings show that while both legal and extra legal factors were significant in the decision to revoke probation and the length of the sentence, the factors were different for each decision
Female Delinquents and Restorative Justice
As imprisonment rates increase in America, women are being adversely affected. Although women are still a minority in terms of the total number of persons incarcerated, their numbers are rising faster than those of men. This article looks at this disheartening trend and makes the case the restorative justice can be used as gender-specific programming for female delinquents
