America's Growing Observance of Cinco de Mayo
A geographical analysis of America's ethnic radio programming
Although America's ethnic populations have been mapped using census data, their geographical distributions can also be revealed by mapping the locations of AM/ FM radio stations that carry special ethnic programs. The number of radio stations more than doubled between 1960 and 1990 as well as the number of stations carrying ethnic programs. Approximately 1 of 6 radio stations in the period of 1960– 1990 carried at least one weekly ethnic program.…

Recent European Immigration to the Chicago Metropolitan Area
Patterns of European migration to the Chicago metropolitan area are examined to determine the urban spatial distribution of various ethnic groups. Data are from petitions of 1,185 male immigrants 18 years old and over from Greece, Italy, Poland, and Yugoslavia who applied for U.S. citizenship between June 2, 1975, and June 1, 1976. Many recent immigrants from the Middle East have located in the Detroit metropolitan area. Data were extracted from Petitions for Naturalization to determine some characteristics of these immigrants and aspects of their settling processes. This source of data could be the basis of new study on the migration and settlement of immigrant ethnic groups in the United States

The partitioning of land into long-lot fields was an integral part of the Spanish-American land system of New Mexico's upper Rio Grande Valley, the Rio Arriba. Spanish-Americans acquired much of the irrigable cropland within the eight Northern Pueblo Indian Grants of New Mexico's upper Rio Grande Valley during the last half of the 1800's.
