Integrated mass drug administration for yaws eradication
BACKGROUND: Yaws is a chronic infectious disease that disproportionately affects under-reached communities. In 2023, Papua New Guinea (PNG) reported 100 165 suspected yaws cases, accounting for 45% of cases reported worldwide. The WHO targets yaws eradication by 2030, primarily through mass drug administration (MDA) of azithromycin. This study evaluates the impact of an integrated MDA programme in PNG and reviews global evidence on optimal MDA st…
Formation of Calcium Oxalate Patinas as Protective Layer on Basaltic Stone Surfaces of 17th Century Raigad Hill Fort, India
This work reports calcium oxalate film formation on basaltic stone surfaces of the 17th-century western India Raigad Hill Fort. Nine stone samples extracted from the exterior surfaces of different historical structures of the fort were investigated under FTIR, optical microscopy, XRD, and SEM-EDX. The FTIR spectroscopy revealed intense peaks for Ca-oxalate patinas on basaltic stone surfaces. Observation under optical microscopy clearly showed mil…
Clinic-Radiological Comparative Study to Evaluate of Hard & Soft Tissue Changes Around Dental Implants Placed With Platelet Rich Fibrin in Type-2 Diabetic Patients With Varying Glycemic Levels
Background: Periodontitis is considered the "sixth complication" of diabetes and tooth loss is its inevitable result. Various studies have shown the prevalence of tooth loss to be more in diabetic patients. Poor glycemic levels have shown to affect the osseointegration of dental implants in diabetics, thus this study aimed to evaluate the regenerative and anti-inflammatory effects of Platelet rich Fibrin (PRF) on the peri-implant soft and hard ti…

Examining the quality of childhood tuberculosis diagnosis in Cambodia
Limited availability of diagnostic tools and suboptimal clinician performance highlight where resources should be allocated to improve quality of diagnoses. Further research needs to be done in low burden Operational Districts to determine the capacity of clinicians and health facilities for diagnosing childhood TB, where cases are likely being missed
Early detection of tuberculosis through community-based active case finding in Cambodia
The community-based ACF in Cambodia was found to be a cost-effective activity that is likely to have additional benefits such as contribution to early case finding and detection of patients from a vulnerable age group, possibly with an extended benefit for reducing secondary cases in the community. Further investigations are required to clarify the primary benefits of ACF in early and increased case detection and to assess its secondary impact on…
