  • The Acti-Pair program helps men with prostate cancer increase physical activity with peer support

Open Access•Amandine Baudot, Nathalie Barth et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2024

Background: Although the health benefits of physical activity (PA) are recognized, prostate cancer patients do not follow PA recommendations. Barriers to PA, whether physical, environmental or organizational, are known. Furthermore, even when these barriers are overcome, this achievement is not systematically accompanied by lifestyle change. Many strategies have shown to be effective in increasing patient adherence to PA. This study aims to asses…

  • Relationship between moderate-to-vigorous, light intensity physical activity and sedentary behavior in a prospective cohort of older French adults

Open Access•Caroline Duprè, Marlène Brégère et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

Highlights An equivalent daily dose of walking at low intensity (at least 1.5 h at one’s own pace) has already a beneficial effect on health in older adults with a 30% reduction in mortality risk. This reduction in mortality risk is even more strong (80%) from 3 h of walking at low intensity per day. These results are even stronger in those who have chronic conditions (hypertension or type 2 diabetes)

  • Physical Activity in Long Covid

Open Access•Claire Colas, Yann Le Berre et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

Exercise in long COVID is poorly studied. Nevertheless, exerciserehabilitation could improve cardiorespiratory, muscular and autonomic functions. We aimed to investigate improvement in physical and autonomic performances of long COVID patients ( n = 38) after a 4-week exercise rehabilitation program (3 sessions/week) compared to two control groups composed of coronary artery disease ( n = 38) and fibromyalgia patients ( n = 38), two populations f…

  • Management of Long Covid—The CoviMouv' Pilot Study

Open Access•Claire Colas, Manon Bayle et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sports and Active…•2022•Referências: 1

Context After a COVID-19 infection, some patients have persistent symptoms, the most common is fatigue. To prevent it from becoming chronic (post-COVID-19 syndrome), early management before 3 months could be useful. Exercise and education are recommended. Objective To assess fatigue in patients with prolonged symptoms after COVID-19 infection and who received a mixed program of remote adapted physical activity and therapeutic education. The secon…

  • Social Marketing Intervention to Engage Older Adults in Balance Workshops for Fall Prevention

Open Access•Luc Goethals, Nathalie Barth et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2021

Background: Falls affects one of three people after 65 years old, and it can lead to serious consequences. Scientific evidence point out that physical exercise is the most efficient way to prevent falls among older adults. Objective: The main objective of this study is to determine if a social marketing program can increase the attendance rate of people aged 60 and over at group balance workshops. Methods: This quasi-experimental multicenter stud…

  • Efficiency of an Optimized Care Organization in Fibromyalgia Patients

Open Access•Claire Colas, J Goutte et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2021

Introduction: Fibromyalgia (FM) is characterized by multiple symptoms including pain, fatigue, and sleep disorders, altering patient's quality of life. In the absence of effective pharmacological therapy, the last European guidelines recommend a multidisciplinary management based on exercise and education. Thus, our main objective was to measure the effectiveness of a healthcare organization offering a specific program of adapted physical activit…

  • Domestic Activities Associated With a Decreased Risk of Cognitive Disorders

Open Access•Caroline Duprè, David Hupin et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2020

Background: Previous cohorts studied the association of various types of physical activities with the incidence of cognitive disorders. The objective of this work was to analyze the association of leisure, domestic and professional physical activities with mild and moderate cognitive disorders in older people living in the community. Methods: We used retrospective data from the “FRéLE” (FRagilité: étude Longitudinale de ses Expressions) a longitu…
