Interventions Based On Positive Psychology for Suicide Prevention
Feasibility of an App-Supported Monitoring System for Cognitive-Behavioral Interventions in Fibromyalgia Patients in Public Settings
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic condition marked by widespread pain, psychological distress, and significant societal costs. This study evaluates the feasibility of a mobile health (mHealth) application designed to support cognitive-behavioral therapy for FM by enabling real-time tracking of patient-reported outcomes and adaptive treatment modifications within public health care settings. Thirty-six adults with FM participated in this feasibility …
Treating self-harm behaviors in prisons
NCT06297460 (ClinicalTrials.gov, retrospectively registered, 2022/01/01)
Implementation of the STEPPS program for the treatment of self-harm behaviors in Catalonia’s prisons
NCT06297460 (ClinicalTrials.gov, retrospectively registered)
The effect of a foreign language on cognitive reappraisal during exposure to a phobic stimulus
This study investigates whether the cognitive reappraisal strategy is influenced by the participant's language (native/foreign) when confronting a fearful stimulus. Sixty participants with subclinical phobia of cockroaches were exposed to several phobic and neutral pictures while they used cognitive reappraisal in their native language or a foreign one. Electrodermal activity, pupil dilation, and self-reports of affective valence and arousal were…
Internet-based versus face-to-face Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for parental psychological flexibility
“Family Connections”, a program for relatives of people with borderline personality disorder
Family members of people with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) often experience high levels of psychological symptoms such as depression, anxiety, or burden. Family Connections (FC) is a pioneer program designed for relatives of people with BPD, and it is the most empirically supported treatment thus far. The aim of this study was to carry out a randomized clinical trial to confirm the differential efficacy of FC versus an active treatment a…
Is there evidence that emotional reasoning processing underlies emotional disorders in adults? A systematic review
The prevalence of emotional disorders has increased in recent times. Emotional Reasoning (ER), which is a transdiagnostic process, occurs when feelings, rather than objective evidence, are used as a source of information to make judgements about the valence of a situation. Differences in ER may explain the existence and maintenance of emotional disorders. The objective is to systematically review the role of ER in the occurrence and severity of e…
Multicultural Quality of Life Index in Relatives of People With Borderline Personality Disorder
Consistent with other studies, the MQLI demonstrated feasibility, strong internal consistency, and good convergent and discriminant validity, which means it is a psychometrically robust measure for the assessment of quality of life in relatives of people with BPD. Along with other validation studies, this measure will be a useful tool for assessing quality of life in relatives of people with mental disorders
A Data-Driven Clustering Method for Discovering Profiles in the Dynamics of Major Depressive Disorder Using a Smartphone-Based Ecological Momentary Assessment of Mood
The real-time monitoring conducted in the present study provides some preliminary indications of different patterns of both average mood and mood variability among MDD patients in treatment in mental health settings. Such varying patterns were not found for emotional inertia
Client’s Experiences Using a Location-Based Technology ICT System during Gambling Treatments’ Crucial Components
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the treatment of choice for Gambling Disorder (GD), with stimulus control (SC) and exposure with response prevention (ERP) being its two core components. Despite their efficacy, SC and ERP are not easy to deliver, so it is important to explore new ways to enhance patient compliance regarding SC and ERP. The aim of this study is to describe and assess the opinion of two patients diagnosed with problem gambling and G…
Preventing Emotional Dysregulation
Emotional dysregulation is a key factor in the development and maintenance of multiple disabling mental disorders through a person's lifespan. Therefore, there is an urgent need to prevent emotional dysregulation as early as possible. The main aim of this study was to evaluate the acceptability and preliminary effectiveness of an adapted Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Training program for Emotional Problem Solving in Adolescents (DBT STEPS-A…
Parenting Intervention for Psychological Flexibility and Emotion Regulation
Psychological flexibility has been found as a protective factor for several psychological problems, including the field of parenting. The present study aims to illustrate a clinical protocol, session by session, for the promotion of parental psychological flexibility and emotion regulation in a case study. The clinical protocol is based on third-wave behavior therapy in a brief intervention of four sessions. The intervention is presented in a cli…
Interventions for Family Members and Carers of Patients with Borderline Personality Disorder
Carers of patients with borderline personality disorder (BPD) experience high levels of distress. Several studies have been carried out on interventions designed to decrease their burden. However, the evidence from these studies has not been summarized. The objective of this work is to explore the clinical utility of interventions developed for family members of patients with BPD. A systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines …
Characterizing Breakthrough Cancer Pain Using Ecological Momentary Assessment with a Smartphone App
apps reduce recall bias and facilitate a rapid response to adverse events in oncological care. Future efforts should be addressed to integrate EMA and ecological momentary interventions to facilitate pain self-management via apps
The Moderating Role of Emotion Regulation in the Recall of Negative Autobiographical Memories
When facing a negative event, people implement different strategies to regulate ongoing emotions. Although the previous literature has suggested that the emotional intensity of a negative episode is associated with the characteristics of the subsequent autobiographical memory, it is still unknown whether emotion regulation (ER) moderates this relationship. In the present study, we provided undergraduate students with a smartphone-based diary to r…
MHealth for the Monitoring of Brace Compliance and Wellbeing in Adolescents with Idiopathic Scoliosis
Attempts to optimize monitoring of brace adherence prescribed to adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis (IS) have generally relied on sensors. Sensors, however, are intrusive and do not allow the assessment of psychological and physical consequences of brace use that might underlie poor adherence. Mobile applications have emerged as alternatives to monitor brace compliance. However, the feasibility and utility of these app-based systems to assess …
Predictors of Adherence in Three Low-Intensity Intervention Programs Applied by ICTs for Depression in Primary Care
Depression is one of the most common disorders in psychiatric and primary care settings, and is associated with disability, loss in quality of life, and economic costs. Internet-based psychological interventions have been shown to be effective in depression treatment but present problems with a low degree of adherence. The main aim of this study is to analyze the adherence predictors in three low-intensity interventions programs applied by Inform…

Telemonitoring in Chronic Pain Management Using Smartphone Apps
The use of apps may have some benefits in individual health care, especially when using alarms to tailor treatments
A Low-Intensity Internet-Based Intervention Focused on the Promotion of Positive Affect for the Treatment of Depression in Spanish Primary Care
Background : A large number of low-intensity Internet-based interventions (IBIs) for the treatment of depression have emerged in Primary Care; most of them focused on decreasing negative emotions. However, recent studies have highlighted the importance of addressing positive affect (PA) as well. This study is a secondary analysis of a randomized control trial. We examine the role of an IBI focused on promoting PA in patients with depression in Pr…

Exploring the Relationship Between the Acceptability of an Internet-Based Intervention for Depression in Primary Care and Clinical Outcomes
Background: Depression is one of the most prevalent psychological disorders worldwide. Although psychotherapy for depression is effective, there are barriers to its implementation in primary care in Spain. The use of the Internet has been shown to be a feasible solution. However, the acceptability of Internet-based interventions has not been studied sufficiently. Objective: To assess the acceptability of an Internet-based intervention (IBI) for d…
