Factor Structure of the Family Environment Scale
The factor structure of the Family Environment Scale (FES; Moos, Insel, and Humphrey, 1974) was examined in a large heterogeneous urban sample of adolescents (N = 922) in two studies at two levels of analysis. The relation of sex and age to Family Environment Scale scores of 966 white adolescents was investigated using both old (1974) and new (1981) standard scores.
