The impact of women’s non-farm employment on child quantity and quality
This study investigates how women’s non-farm employment influences the quantity and quality of children in a rural context. The “Sumatralith” in the Hoabinhian technocomplex of South China and Southeast Asia
The Hoabinhian technocomplex has been one of the major concerns of Paleolithic archaeologists in China in recent years, and it has been an inevitable topic especially when it comes to the comparison of the tradition of cobble-tool industries in South China and Southeast Asia. The characterization of the lithic industry of the Hoabinhian technocomplex is largely based on the presence or absence of “Sumatralith”, but there has not been a study that…

Will the situation of Left-Behind children improve when their parents Return? evidence from China
Based on Grossman’s (1972) health model and Becker and Tomes, 1979 , Becker and Tomes, 1986 cognitive ability family decision-making model, this study examines the impact and mechanisms of children’s left-behind status and parental return on the accumulation of children’s health and cognitive human capital. By extending these models, we derive that changes in left-behind status have both income and separation effects on children’s human capital a…

A Simulation Study of the Effect of Delayed Retirement on Welfare of the Elderly
In order to cope with population aging and emerging labor shortages, the Chinese government may soon introduce a policy to address this problem by raising the normal retirement age. However, the effects of planning for delayed retirement on the welfare of the elderly remain unknown. From an intergenerational support perspective, we develop a dynamic optimization model that can simulate changes in the welfare of the elderly over the years under di…
