Efficacy of Coherence Therapy in the Treatment of Procrastination and Perfectionism
This study tested the efficacy of Coherence Therapy, compared with a self-help, bibliotherapy intervention, for people with procrastination and perfectionism problems. A total of 37 adults (65% male, 46% White, European American) were randomized to a Coherence Therapy intervention (n = 18) or a bibliotherapy condition (n = 19). This study examined the relationship between adult attachment style and friendship qualities in a sample of 330 undergraduates using the Adult Attachment Measure (Hazan & Shaver, 1987) and the Friendship Qualities Scale (Bukowski, Hoza, & Boivin, 1994). A 26-year retrospective study was conducted on internship and initial job placements of counseling psychologists. Twenty-five pediatric house officers were surveyed (14 M; 11 F) to assess their behavioral and psychophysiologic responses to patient death. This study addressed the cognitive processes associated with eating restraint, a subclinical form of disordered eating marked by chronic dietary consciousness, food deprivation and binging‐purging. The possibility that 69 male and 20 female graduate students in counseling were more flexible in their self-disclosure than were 57 male and 32 female undergraduates was tested in mixed-sex samples.
