Digital Aesthetics in the Age of Machine Learning
The speed with which machine learning is becoming deeply embedded in creative production, curation, and interpretation has radically altered digital aesthetics. The classical aesthetic theory has difficulty explaining algorithmic authorship, forming data driven styles, and hybrid human-AI creativity, which present conceptual and methodological gaps in the research of contemporary art. The paper explores the role of machine learning models in chan…
Ai-Generated Dance Movements and Creative Ownership
Artificial intelligence and dance choreography have started to create a paradigm shift in the debate about creativity, authorship, and ownership in digital art. An example of this can be found in AI generated dance works, created using generative models like Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs), Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and even motion capture data generation where machines are able to recreate and innovate in areas of human art. These …
Environmental and socio-demographic factors associated with vector borne diseases in India
The present study conceptualizes the probability of vector-borne disease occurrence in the context of demographic, socioeconomic, and microenvironmental determinants. This study uses NSSO data from the 76th round to predict vector-borne diseases. A probit model has been used to analyse the determinants. Ten percent of the surveyed individuals reported having suffered from vector-borne diseases, and 11.82 and 7.61% of the population disclosed prob…
Knowledge, attitude, and practices of adolescents and peer educators in relation to the components of the National Adolescent Health Program in India
Background: Adolescence is a critical period of growth and development. Many adverse health outcomes in adulthood begin during adolescence, often due to insufficient knowledge and attitudes resulting from a lack of education. Therefore, appropriate knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) regarding various aspects of health are essential for holistic adolescent and lifelong health. In India, the Rashtriya Kishore Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK or Nati…
What causes concordance of hypertension between spouses in India? Identifying a critical knowledge gap from a nationally representative cross-sectional sample of 63,020 couples aged 15 + years
Our study underscores two critical knowledge gaps: first, the identity of "novel" risk factors of hypertension and second, the mechanism behind weakening of concordance with age. Future research should explore these novel risk factors rigorously and try to modify them. Also, primary healthcare policy of the country should focus on couples in addition to individuals for hypertension and cardiovascular disease screening and management
Gender difference in prevalence of hypertension among Indians across various age-groups
This is perhaps the first study to comprehensively demonstrate that cardio-metabolic risk in Indian females surpasses males after 50 years of age, "busting the myth" that Indian females are always at much lower risk than males; and this evidence should inform the Indian healthcare system to prioritise older women for screening and treatment of hypertension
