Connectivity between long-term care homes and subsequent Sars-CoV-2 outbreaks
Staff cohorting was associated with reduced importation risk of SARS-CoV-2 cases into LTCH. However, once importation has occurred, other facility-level factors including facility infrastructure and staff benefits are more important in shaping outbreak size. Implementing these structural strategies to meet the LTCH workers and residents' needs are pivotal to prevent and manage future respiratory virus outbreaks

Impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on regional and national uptake of HIV testing services in Sierra Leone
Our study shows that HIV testing was significantly disrupted during the COVID-19 pandemic but recovered quickly after the pandemic. These findings highlight that lessons learned from previous epidemics may influence adaptive strategies to maintain essential health services during public health emergencies
Adapting an evidence-based gender, livelihoods, and HIV prevention intervention with street-connected young people in Eldoret, Kenya
Despite being highly vulnerable to acquiring HIV, no effective evidence-based interventions (EBI) exist for street-connected young people (SCY) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Therefore, this paper describes the research process of adapting an existing EBI in Eldoret, Kenya using a modified ADAPT-ITT model with a young key population. The burden of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and cardiovascular risk factors among adult Malawians in HIV care
Among patients in HIV care 26.6% had hypertension and/or diabetes. Close to two-thirds of hypertension diagnoses was stage I and of those few had an indication for antihypertensive pharmacotherapy. According to our criteria, 13.0% of HIV patients in care required drug treatment for hypertension and/or diabetes
Characteristics and outcomes of women initiating ART during pregnancy versus breastfeeding in Option B+ in Malawi
Many women in Malawi started ART during breastfeeding within Option B+ and were older and had more advanced WHO Clinical Staging. This represents a missed PMTCT opportunity to initiate treatment early in pregnancy. This study shows low PMTCT program efficiency and effectiveness under routine program conditions in Malawi. HIV-free infant survival may have been influenced by key factors, including underuse of HAART, underuse of sd-NVP, and suboptimal infant feeding practices. Maternal mortality among HIV-infected women demands attention; improved maternal survival is a means to improve infant survival
