Dizziness and vertigo sick leave before and after insurance restrictions – a descriptive Swedish nationwide register linkage study
The vast majority of vertigo/dizziness sick leave episodes were coded as nonspecific diagnoses and occurred in women. BPPV, a curable vestibular condition, was the most common specific diagnosis. This suggests a potential for improved diagnostics. Women on sick leave due to dizziness/vertigo were younger and more often received nonspecific diagnostic codes.
