  • Religion and Education in Romania

    Open Access•Mihai Popa, Liviu Andreescu•ARTICLE•Politics and Religion•2019•Referências: 23

In this article, we discuss the relation between the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and its jurisprudence and social mobilizations around the place of religion in the society. We focus on the struggles to define the intersection of religion and public education in Romania after the fall of communism. We show that secularist and counter-secularist civil society activists contending for the place of religion in public education in this coun…

  • Legal provisions, courts, and the status of religious communities

    Open Access•Mihai Popa, Liviu Andreescu•ARTICLE•Religion State & Society•2017•Citada por: 3•Referências: 1

We examine the ways in which local-level bureaucrats gain discretion and exercise it when implementing the program. By securing greater control over a s…

  • Caring for t[]e inheritance

    Mihai Popa•ARTICLE•Acta Ethnographica Hungarica•2013•Referências: 7

In this paper I show how inheritance is exchanged for old age care in a village from Northern Dobruja, Romania. The elderly have to insure their old age care while managing relations with their children who are not always able to provide care. In Romania internal and international migration has made future prospects of care in the family uncertain. While according to the regulations of the Civil Code the children are the almost certain beneficiar…
