Differential risk profiles for geriatric depression, anxiety, and sleep disturbances in rural China
Background: Mental health disorders among older adults in rural China present substantial public health challenges, yet their differential risk factors and practical screening tools remain understudied. Methods: We analyzed data from 4,180 participants in the Taierzhuang Aging Cohort. Using multivariate logistic regression, we identified independent risk factors for depression, anxiety, and insomnia. Predictor variables were confirmed to be suffi…
Multiscale Mechanisms of Hydrogel‐Induced Structural Stabilization and Erosion Resistance in Slag‐Amended Soils
Mine slag soils exhibit poor structural stability due to their lack of clay and organic matter. This study evaluated an eco‐friendly binder (SJP)—a polyvinyl alcohol/sodium alginate‐modified glutinous rice‐derived hydrogel—for improving aggregate stability in slag‐amended soils. Surface electrochemical characterization, including surface potential, specific surface area (SSA), and cation exchange capacity (CEC), combined with extended DLVO‐based …
Inconsistencies in sulfur dioxide emissions from the Canadian oil sands and potential implications
Satellite-derived and reported sulfur dioxide (SO 2 ) emissions from the Canadian oil sands are shown to have been consistent up to 2013. Post-2013, these sources of emissions data diverged, with reported emissions dropping by a factor of two, while satellite-derived emissions for the region remained relatively constant, with the discrepancy (satellite-derived emissions minus reported emissions) peaking at 50 kt(SO 2 ) yr -1 around 2016. The 2013…
