Cueva Los Bancos, A New Archaeological Site with Early Occupations in the Southernmost Sector of the Eastern Sierras Pampeanas of Argentina
We present new chronological data for the southernmost sector of the Eastern Sierras Pampeanas system of central Argentina. Recent excavations at the Cueva Los Bancos site in Sierra del Morro hill provided a date of ca. 9400 calendar years ago. In this report, we present a new 14C of 9627-9490 cal BC (8640 ± 30 BP) obtained at the Intihuasi Cave, San Luis, Argentina. The sample was obtained during fieldwork conducted as part of a new management plan for tourist use of the site. Intihuasi has played a central role in the history of archaeological investigations in South America. En esta nota se presentan los resultados obtenidos de las investigaciones arqueológicas desarrolladas en el sitio Alero Dupuy, departamento de Coronel Pringles, provincia de San Luis. Los materiales recuperados en las excavaciones permiten plantear la realización de actividades múltiples por parte de grupos cazadores recolectores posiblemente con ocupaciones redundantes desde el Holoceno medio al tardío
