  This article examines the theme of entrepreneurship among members of minority and immigrant groups. Its emphasis is on Jews and selected aspects of their history, but looks too at other groups. In particular various models and theories which have been proposed to explain minority business are explored. In general they are found wanting. Moreover, it is clear that a more secure empirical basis would be a desideratum
