Neutron Activation Analysis of Obsidian From Kalavasos- Tenta

The Vasilikos Valley and the Chalcolithic Period in Cyprus
Information concerning the Chalcolithic occupation of the Vasilikos valley has been derived principally from excavations at Kalavasos-Ayious and from the field survey of the valley. Limited data were also obtained by excavation at Kalavasos-Tenta. At Ayious no standing structures were found, only a series of pits of varied shapes, sizes, and purposes. During the fourth season of the Vasilikos Valley Project in the Larnaca District of southern Cyprus, excavations were continued at the Aceramic and Ceramic Neolithic site of Kalavasos-Tenta. Excavation on the west side of the top of the site revealed more of the plan of the earliest curvilinear building that underlies the stone complex. During the summer of 1977 a second season of excavation and field survey was undertaken in the Vasilikos valley area of Larnaca District in southern Cyprus. Aşıklı Hüyük—A Protoneolithic Site in Central Anatolia
The site of Aşıklı Hüyük lies in the vilayet of Niğde, ca. 25 km. south-east of Aksaray and ca. 1 km. south of Kızılkaya Köy, on the right bank of the Melendiz Çay. The existence of a mound here was first made known to the writer by Dr. Edmund Gordon who was examining the area for Hittite remains, and the site was visited by the writer several times during the summer and autumn of 1964 when the collection of obsidian implements discussed in this …
