Closing Nutrient and Carbon Loops
This on‐farm strip demonstration evaluated the response of maize and selected soil indicators to biogas digestate (DIG), a nutrient‐rich by‐product of anaerobic digestion, and to a low‐dose commercial humic product (BLK) after 3‐year production‐field conditions in southwestern Poland. The DIG treatment significantly increased fresh and dry matter yields (by 2.8 and 2.5 times, respectively) and enhanced soil properties, including total and labile …
Comparative Analysis of the Effects of Contact and Online Biology Teaching
This study investigates the effectiveness of contact and online biology teaching by assessing student performance and gathering perceptions from students, teachers, and parents. Conducted in autumn 2021 with 3035 students, 124 biology teachers, and 719 parents, this study combined post-instruction assessments of student performance in knowledge reproduction and conceptual understanding with questionnaires examining perceptions of contact and onli…
The Effect of Block Class Scheduling on the Achievements of Primary School Students in Nature and Biology Classes
The objective of this study was to investigate whether the class scheduling of Nature and Biology classes in blocks results in better learning success for primary school students, and whether this depends on the average student success rate (i.e., student performance categories), age, or prior knowledge. For this study, we have assumed that block scheduling results in better success rates for older lower-performing primary-school students. The re…
Effects of Block vs. Traditional Scheduling on High School Science Success—Lessons from Biology Classes
Many studies investigate the effects of block vs. traditional class scheduling on the students’ success in high-school science classes. However, it is rare for studies to investigate the interactive effect of class scheduling and students’ average performance on the students’ success. We investigated how block (B) vs. single (S) class scheduling, students’ average performance and their interaction affect students’ success in high school biology c…
