The Case of the Mommy Network
Using a literacy framework, this case study explores parents’ assessment literacy in South Florida (United States). Data were collected using focus-group interviews of public-school parents (N = 32) and a document artifact. The purpose of this study was to examine the correlations between school-related perceptions of 57 Puerto Rican mothers residing in east-central Pennsylvania and achievement of their children. A computer program written in FORTRAN IV is presented which will cross-correlate least squares estimated factor scores across separately factor analyzed variable domains without the tedious necessity of actually calculating the factor scores.
