Supervisor negative feedback and employee motivation to learn
Why do some employees respond well to negative feedback, whereas others respond poorly? We suggest it depends on two factors: first, employees’ attribution of the feedback, or why employees believe their supervisor provides negative feedback in the first place, and second, employees’ core self-evaluation (CSE). These factors have implications for employees’ motivation to learn and learning performance. We tested our hypotheses using two three-wav…

Is Individualism Suicidogenic? Findings From a Multinational Study of Young Adults From 12 Countries
The associations of individualistic versus collectivistic value orientations with suicidal ideation and attempts, attitudes towards suicide and towards suicidal individuals, and psychological distress were investigated across 12 nations ( N = 5572 university students). Leader–member exchange differentiation and team creativity
Although substantial knowledge regarding the antecedents and outcomes of leader–member exchange (LMX) differentiation has been accumulated, numerous questions related to this topic remain underexplored. To enhance the understanding of LMX differentiation and team-focused outcomes, this study proposed that LMX differentiation has a curvilinear relationship with team creativity and that team LMX quality (represented by the LMX median in this study)…
Paternalistic Leadership in Four East Asian Societies
Paternalistic leadership has been claimed to be one dominant leadership style in Asia. However, research failed to assess its comparability and applicability across East Asian contexts. The triad model of paternalistic leadership entails elements of authoritarian, benevolent, and moral character leadership. This article investigates the triad model of paternalistic leadership in mainland China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. Paternalistic leader…
Effect of Leader Core Self-Evaluation on Follower Organizational Citizenship Behavior
Despite that a growing body of literature has demonstrated the importance of personality as a predictor of organizational citizenship behavior(OCB),these studies mainly focused on personality-OCB linkage at the same level, and ignored the trickle-down effect from the leader to the follower.Drawing on trait-based perspective of leadership effectiveness,we first investigated the effect of leader's core self-evaluation(CSE) on follower's OCB.The seco…
Psychological Capital
