Who Founded Quilcapampa
During the Middle Horizon (600–1000 CE), the Wari state’s influence expanded across a broad swath of the central Andes. This study compares chemical data of 224 sherds from Early Intermediate Period Huarpa and Middle Horizon Wari pottery to investigate settlement dynamics. All sherds were first identified stylistically and chronologically. Data from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) and University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) were combined and generated 11 chemically similar compositional groups (CGs).
