In demonstrating the need to understand religious madness in teaching Mad People’s History, this article will focus on both historical and religious methodologies used to interpret holy mad thoughts dating back to medieval Europe. The Qualitative Historical Origins of Mad Studies in Word and Deed, 1436-1914
Periodically from the 15th to early 20th centuries, mad people left written accounts of their experiences.
