Perceived Covid-19 risk is attenuated by ingroup trust
Across all three studies, ingroup members were trusted more and were perceived to pose less health risk. These findings are discussed with a focus on how group processes can be more effectively incorporated into public health policy, both for the current pandemic and for future contagious disease threats

Most health models emphasize individual factors in predicting health behavior. Risk-Taking That Signals Trust Increases Social Identification
Social identification predicts many important phenomena; however, its determinants have received comparably little research attention. We argue that people are more likely to socially identify with others who engage in risky behavior that implies trust than with those who act cautiously, and test this in four experiments with over 900 participants.
