  • Availability of bereavement support following traumatic pediatric death in a large metropolitan area

    Annika Divakar, K James et al.•ARTICLE•Death Studies•2023•Referências: 1

Following an unexpected pediatric death, survivors undergo unique trauma. Medical examiners (MEs) evaluate most of these deaths. We evaluated the bereavement support available to survivors in the Chicagoland area following a pediatric death. We had two goals: to characterize the available bereavement support options and compare the locations (by zip code) of support groups with the locations (by zip code) in which pediatric ME cases occurred. We …

    Open Access•K James•ARTICLE•The Historical Journal•2021•Referências: 7

This article examines the emergent use of alcohol as a preservation medium for scientific specimens from the mid-seventeenth century in Britain. • P2-260 Population-based prevalence of Duchenne/Becker muscular dystrophy (DBMD) in the USA

P Romitti, Paul A Romitti et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•2011

Introduction DBMD has an estimated prevalence of 1/3500 male births. Worldwide, this estimate varies, likely due to differences in diagnostic criteria, ascertainment, and survival. To date, no U.S. population-based DBMD prevalence data by race/ethnicity have been published. Methods In 2002, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention established the MD STARnet to conduct population-based DBMD surveillance in four U.S. sites. Each site conducts…

  • The Impact of Exotic Dune Grass Species on Foredune Development in Australia and New Zealand

Mike Hilton, Nick Harvey et al.•ARTICLE•Australian Geographer•2006•Citada por: 1•Referências: 21

Marram grass (Ammophila arenaria) and sea-wheat grass (Thinopyrum junceiforme) have been introduced to Australia and New Zealand. This study examines the morphology of incipient foredunes and established foredunes associated with these species at two sites, Mason Bay in southern New Zealand, and the Younghusband Peninsula in South Australia. Both species invaded the existing foredunes very rapidly. In both cases the antecedent topography comprise…
