Post-traumatic stress disorder and memory function in older adults exposed to civilian conflict
Research with veterans, refugees and other trauma-exposed groups has identified a link between post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and deficits in memory. Age-related hearing loss (ARHL) is common and a known risk factor for social disengagement in later life. This study explored social functioning following a diagnosis of ARHL. Using a constructivist grounded theory approach we developed an interview schedule to advance a grounded theory from data collected from six older adults who used either hearing aids or cochlear implants. Excavations on Tòrr an Aba, Iona, Argyll
Excavations (1956-7) on a rock outcrop immediately west of Iona Abbey revealed a sub-rectangular building and a later cross-base. The possible identification of the building with one of the cells of St Columba is considered. Au (abr)

Bradley Hill, 8·8 km (51⁄2 miles) north-west of Ilchester, is a low hill projecting northwards from the Lower Lias plateau between Somerton and Langport and is capped by a thin band of Rhaetic clay.The site of the Romano-British farmstead, 53 m (175 ft.) above sea level, is in a prominent and exposed position at NGR ST 4800 3034 (FIG. 1; PL. The Excavation of an Iron Age Souterrain and Settlement at Carn Euny, Sancreed, Cornwall
The ancient village of Carn Euny, formerly known as Chapel Euny, lies on a south-west slope just above the 500 foot contour in the parish of Sancreed in West Cornwall (fig. 1). The granite uplands of the region are rich in antiquities, as a glance at a recent survey shows (Russell 1971), not least those of the prehistoric period. The Origins and Development of the Penannular Brooch in Europe
This paper is in a sense a by-product of a detailed study of ‘Dark Age’ metalwork and grew out of the realization that any interpretation of post-Roman history depends on an understanding of the archaeology of Roman and Iron Age Britain. For too long, the post-Roman world has been regarded as separate from the preceding periods, and has been seen mainly through aesthetic spectacles. Recent studies of the pottery of the period have to some extent …
