Recent research findings and theoretical formulations are presented which suggest that reminiscing serves important intrapersonal functions in helping the elderly cope with the aging process. The author offers some new formulations on the interpersonal significance of reminiscing and discusses the diagnostic and treatment implications and applications that can aid the social worker in his work with the elderly
