ries at issue here: first, how abortion was practiced and regulated in this country, which was the subject of the Webster historians' brief;' and second, how the brief itself was written through a somewhat novel collaborative process of interdisciplinary group scholarship.2 It is this second story that brings us to the questions Professor James Mohr and others have raised about whether the brief is really history.-3 In working with the group of historians and lawyers who drafted the brief, we encountered many of the same conflicts between the methods of law
