This essay discusses one museum's experience with its first donor-supported exhibit and catalog project. The author explores the roles of donor relations, communications, institutional policies, and issues of "shared authority" in developing the Harry Miller photographic project. The author questions whether a distinctive ethical dimension distinguishes public history.
