Bisexual Books Recommended and Critiqued for Use in Universities and Senior Secondary Schools

Books with bisexual characters and/or subject matter often reveal more about an author's attitude about bisexuality than about bisexuality itself. When reading novels with bisexual characters, it's important to consider, deconstruct, and analyze the point of view of the author, whose opinions about bisexuality are not always positive, or who may be using bisexuality as a dramatic device rather than bringing an understanding about bisexuality to the work. Some nonfiction books with 'bisexual' in the title are from the point of view of a nonbisexual person with an axe to grind, and most of those with 'LGBT' in the title have shockingly little material on the 'B' in 'LGBT.' This article provides a list of bisexual books worth reading at university, college, and senior secondary levels, along with a guide to which books see bisexuality in an unbiased light and which books need to be viewed with a more critical eye.
