The Northpart of America is the first broad study of early printed maps of Canada. Through a discussion of 46 maps, the authors illustrate the exploration of the country, the science and art of map reproduction, maps as attractive illustrations, and the principles of carto-bibliography. Each map is accompanied by a text which discusses the significance of the map. Although the reviewers have some reservations about the book, in particular the selection of some maps and the omission of others, they consider that this is a work of great value to map collectors and others interested in the history of cartography and in the exploration of Canada
