Following the entry into force of same-sex marriage (SSM) legalization in Mexico City, on March 4, 2010, a non-synchronized legalization of SSM began in the rest of the states, with Nuevo León being the last in 2023. This lack of synchronization produced a slight change between states migration patterns. This research takes legalization as a proxy for a general acceptance of diversity and analyzes how the difference in approval time for SSM across states acts as an attraction force to states where marriage, civil union and adoption are recognized as rights. Using a structural break and descriptive analysis, we show that LGB+ individuals pool into states that recognize these rights to same-sex couples
