Eco-friendly strategies, location, and hotel efficiency

This paper explores the impact of eco-friendly strategies on hotel efficiency, accounting for the moderating role of hotel location. Stochastic frontier analysis is used to measure the technical efficiency of international tourist hotels (ITHs) in Taiwan from 2019 to 2023. We find a negative relationship between eco-friendly strategies and hotel efficiency that can be moderated by hotel location to become positive. Additionally, the star ranking system and hotel facilities, show a consistent pattern on hotel efficiency across different periods of the COVID-19 pandemic
