The archaeology surrounding the town of Brzes ́c ́ Kujawski in the Kujawy region of central Poland has been studied since the 1930s (Jaz ̇dz ̇ewski 1938; Grygiel 1986; Grygiel and Bogucki 1997). Archaeobotanical research started in the 1980s at Brzes ́c ́ Kujawski site 4 (Wasylikowa in Grygiel 1986) and was also undertaken at other archaeological sites during excavations conducted by P. Bogucki and R. Grygiel (Oslonki 1, Guz ́lin 2, Konary 1, Konary 1a, Miechowice 4, Miechowice 4a, Smo ́lsk 4, Wolica Nowa 1, Zagajewice 1: Bogucki and Grygiel 1983, Grygiel and Bogucki 1997). Archaeobotanical material from these sites has been studied by K. Wasylikowa, Z. Tomczyn ́ska and A. Bieniek (Nalepka et al. 1998; Bieniek 1999, 2002, 2003a, b)
