In this paper, Prof. Fox investigates the inspiration that More, the man for all seasons, may have for our epoch. Observing the early post-war development of postmodernism, the author draws a comparison between the intellectual challenges that were experienced in the second half of the 20 th century and those known to More in this writings, his spiritual development and his concerns as a lawyer. The contradictions revealed in More’s life are fully explored in this essay, culminating in More’ existential certainty expressed in the paradox of this trial and death: More’s experience was therefore archetypal for the concerns of a post-modern age
