The last two decades have not only seen a remarkable upsurge in Pentecostal scholar- ship but also Pentecostalism itself becoming the subject of much scholarly discussion. While these developments are commendable, the doctrines of the classical Pentecostal churches have remained largely neglected. This is hardly surprising given the common assumption today that we could learn more by studying the Pentecostals’ experience than their doctrines. This state of affairs reflects in no small measure
