This article describes how Berne's therapeutic operations can be tools in educational work as well as in therapy. Therapeutic operations are highly refined verbal (with the occasional nonverbal overlay) procedures used by transactional analysis psychotherapists to bring about cure in a client. The author describes how these became important tools for her in teaching because they provide structure to make classes interactive and student centered. Conscious use of therapeutic operations with the objective of empowering the student/trainee may be recommended in the training of transactional analysis professionals as well
