The authors delineate six distinct types of conflict, each requiring specific and different types of therapeutic intervention. This offers an alternative transactional analysis approach to diagnosis, a dynamic supplement to the static categories of traditional psychiatric nomenclature, and a framework for incisive therapeutic intervention
