Synopsis The substantive system of Manyika is comparable in scope and complexity to the substantive systems of many neighbouring languages. The present paper departs from more usual descriptive formats by classifying paradigms, not words, and by using the form of a total paradigm as the sole criterion for classification. Full tonal data are given, and the privileges and restrictions of occurrence of various affixes relative to one another are explored
