Knut Wicksell’s contributions to economic theory were of central importance for Mauro Boianovsky’s personal development and achievements in the history of economic thought. This paper describes the distinctly archiv(e)ological approach that Mauro developed in the research for his dissertation and his long 1995 article on “Wicksell’s Business Cycle,” an approach that he also adopted in most of his articles in later years. The account is based on the author’s personal experience of collaboration with Mauro in a number of studies on monetary theory, business cycle theory, unemployment, and modern macroeconomics
