Children and Youth

The relatively recent geographical focus on children and youth has developed rapidly into an established subdiscipline and has brought important social science approaches into the discipline of geography. The difficulty and complexity of accurately defining children, childhood, youth, and young people remains, but it has forced geographers to rethink the taken‐for‐granted character of these concepts. Geographies of children and young people are informed by research from across the globe. They work theoretically, conceptually, methodologically, and politically to challenge established geographical knowledge and render a substantive group of people more visible.
