Scythians

The terms “Scythians” or “Scyths” (Greek Σκúθης, Σκúθoι ; Latin Scythae ) do not describe peoples or tribes within an ethnic definition, but a cultural phenomenon, which manifests itself in the dispersal of horse‐riding nomads and their culture in the Eurasian steppes from the eighth century BCE , where they are mentioned for the first time during the reign of Sargon II (721–705 BCE ).
