THE FOLLOWING notes on folklore study and institutions in Norway are intended to supplement the remarks of Thompson and Richmond in two ways. One purpose is to give somewhat more detailed information about Norwegian folklore scholarship than it was possible for Thompson to give in his general survey of all of Scandinavia. Since my stay in Norway was in i959 and I960, another purpose is to supply in some cases more recent information
