Research Article| January 01 2019 Putting One’s Body on the Line Nayan Shah Nayan Shah Nayan Shah is professor of American studies and ethnicity and history at the University of Southern California. He is the author of Stranger Intimacy: Contesting Race, Sexuality, and the Law in the North American West (University of California Press, 2011) and Contagious Divides: Epidemics and Race in San Francisco’s Chinatown (University of California Press, 2001). Shah was coeditor of GLQ: A Journal of Lesbian and Gay Studies from 2011 to 2014.
