The Tribes, the Centuries, and Romulus' Cavalry

It is generally accepted that the Tities, Ramnes, and Luceres were Rome's oldest tribes and that they provided three centuries of cavalry for Rome's earliest army. But this is to conflate two incompatible traditions. The Tities, Ramnes, and Luceres were tribes according to some, but centuries according to others. They were never both at the same time.
