Ramírez catherine s. ramírez is a Ford Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow affiliated with the Department of American Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz and the Department of English at the University of California, Los Angeles. She is writing a book on the participation of Mexican American women in the zoot subculture and the meanings Chicana/o writers and artists have ascribed to the figure of the zoot-suiter.
